Canon Logo Design Evolution

Posted by Eshark on Apr 12th, 2008

Did you know ‘KWANON’ is the origin logo name first used in 1933 for the first trial camera production made from Japan which is now call CANON.

origin_img.jpg

In June 1934, Yoshida and his brother in law Saburo Uchida and Takeo Maeda, a former subordinate of Uchida, released their first trial camera call the ‘Kwanon’, named after the Buddhist goddess of mercy, which include the wording and an image of Kwanon with 1,000 Arms and flames. Since Kwanon and Canon had similar pronunciations, the transition went smoothly until nowadays people still call it Kwanon in Japan.

Writing 642-436 and 70-293 is not a problem for the 70-536 or the 70-642 applicants, whether they have attempted 642-642 series or not.

Canon had gain its own high profile in the consumer market after the company begin full-scale marketing starting in 1935. During the same year, Kwanon has come up with a new logo and the name was changed to Canon to reflect a more modern concept identity.

canon-logo-evolution-01.jpg1934 - The engraved Kwanon logo was used on cameras trial-manufactured by the Company (but not actually released in the market).

canon-logo-evolution-02.jpg1935 - The Canon logo is registered as a trademark. Prominent features were already inherent in the refinement process.

canon-logo-evolution-03.jpg 1953 - Unification of the logo. The image was further refined to achieve an overall balance.

canon-logo-evolution-04.jpg1956 - The current logo was the culmination of painstaking and meticulous design efforts.

2010 World Cup Poster Design

Posted by Eshark on Apr 8th, 2008

Have you ever forgotten the World Cup already? since it’s only organized every four years, many of us might forgotten how your favorite team had gone through every match and how your favorite players score a beautiful goal until your team declare the champion among the champions.

worldcup-2010-poster-b.jpg

Here is to fresh your memories, the World Cup 2010 is coming and what I’m so excited about is how the poster design look like. The official 2010 FIFA World Cup™ poster was designed by the South African creative agency Switch, who also created the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ emblem. What I can say about the design is, it was so vibrant and the colors are inspired by the South African flag that comes in a shape of an African’s human head and it also symbolized the African continent itself. The strong yellow background shows that African has rich passion of a football game and that’s what make the poster design beat other three rivals in a public vote held throughout South Africa from 11 September to 30 September last year.
