CANON New Family - EOS 1000D
CANON has announced their newest DSLR model, CANON EOS 1000D or also known as REBEL XS or they call it in Japan as Canon EOS Kiss Digital F. EOS 1000D comes with 10 megapixels and powered by DIGIC III image processor which will bring a wide choice of affordable good SLR in the market.

Sensitivity : ISO 100, 200, 400, 800 & 1600
Shutter : Focal-plane shutter 30 - 1/4000 sec (0.5 or 0.3 EV steps)
Aperture values : F1.0 - F91 (0.3 EV steps)
Auto Focus : 7-point CMOS sensor with F5.6 cross type at center
LCD Monitor : 2.5″ TFT LCD at 230,000 pixels with 7 brightness levels
Flash : Auto pop-up E-TTL II
Storage : SD / SDHC card
Conectivity : USB 2.0 (Hi-Speed) mini-B / Video out (PAL/NTSC) / E3 type wired remote
Dimensions : 126 x 98 x 62 mm (5.1 x 3.9 x 3.4 in)

Price : Body only - €549 / Kit - €649 (with 18-55mm IS lens)
Comparing to the previous model of EOS 450D which has been introduced early this year, this 1000D a lot more heavier and that’s why I think it’s slightly cheaper. Beside, 1000D comes with 2.5 size of LCD Monitor compare to 3″ for EOS 450D, it only has 7 point CMOS sensor for Auto focus function, that’s pity. Even though the price is quiet cheap, I still go for EOS 450D for affordable type of DSLR.

I personally can see no reason to choose 1000d /xs over 450D / xsi, price different is too small considering the features. Here is a comparison table for you:

Talking about the price + specs, 1000D is actually perfect for those beginners who just started with dslr, they got really good specs with slight cheaper price compare to other medium and hi-end EOS like 400D, 450D, 40D, 50D, 5D, 1D or even the latest model 5D Mark II..
I must say, CANON brilliantly added its model specs + prices to fits with variety of users who looks more on the specs compare to the tag price.. so I must admit that 1000D is a bonus for all fresh dslr geeks out there..
