Famous People Painting

Posted by Eshark on Sep 27th, 2009

Just recently I got an interesting email from a friend telling me about one great painting and so just thought you guys would love to see it. It’s not actually a great painting by Leonardo or Michelangelo from hundreds years ago, but it’s actually an oil painting made in the year 2006 called ”Discussing the Divine Comedy with Dante” by three talented Chinese Artists, Dai Dudu, Li Tiezi, and Zhang An.

Those who have never seen this one, then keep reading..

Interview with Poland Illustrator : Artur Napierajczyk

Posted by Eshark on Sep 20th, 2009

Hi all! How’s everyone doing so far, hope you guys are all doing just great!

As promised, today I will like to share another great interview with one illustrator + designer, this time I bring you guys all the way to Poland, Naz has great collections of artworks that I really admire so much. Read on the interview after the jump.

Firstly, tell us briefly little bit about yourself and what you do?
My name is Artur Napierajczyk and my surname is kind of hard to pronounce so you can simply call me ‘naz. I was born 21 years ago and I came from a small city at northern west of Poland. I’ve spent about 19 years living without graphic design knowledge when I finally went to college and move to Lodz city in the centre of Poland. I’ve made my decision to give my life into graphic industry which I’ve never regret it until now. Currently, I’m a 21 year old graphic designer/illustrator and I’m extremely happy of what I am doing now.

When you first got interested about art and graphic design?
As I’ve mentioned earlier, I decided to start everything back in two years ago, but my journey only started much earlier. I always loved to draw and sketch. Couple of years ago i didn’t even think about graphic design was so much fun to learn, until one day I’ve installed Photoshop on my Mac and I started to fall in love with it. During my younger time, everything I do was done just for fun. But now everything is so clear where I have my dreams and future plans are precisely connected with graphic design. Now, I just can’t live without one single day in front of my mac, watching ads, prints, and playing with PS.

Can you describe briefly of what’s your typical day of work flow
My typical day of work… Hmmm, it’s actually depends on my mood. During the previous last two months, I’ve been busy with school projects and interns with Interactive Agency from Lodz. Now I spent most of my free time chilling out with my girlfriend, family and friends. Also I’ve thinking of my future plans/projects from time to time now, but all that will soon change as I will move to Warsaw, the capital of Poland, and that’s my priority now. Asking the question, i just woke up, have some tea, launch internet browser to search lots of inspirations and finally I start to create/draw something in Photoshop. I can spent all day in front of my Mac when everything is smooth, until sometimes I forget about dinner, but for me it’s normal and that’s how my life goes.

If you don’t mind telling, where do you usually source for good inspiration?
Hundreds of bookmarked sites like : www.ibelieveinadv.com, www.digitalabstracts.com, thefwa.com etc. and of course behance.net. There are lots of great designers!! interesting places, creative peoples, words, good movies and cool MUSIC… About two years ago, I had great time at Reykjavik, Iceland, where i found lots of inspirations and Some of them are still fresh in my mind :)

What is your frequent working process like once you’ve started working on a piece or design work?
I try to break the conventional way of thinking. When I started to work on some projects, I always look on it in a different way. But mostly idea will comes first, then I will look for some stocks, after that sketching will come in handy, planning and when everythings appear to be ok, then only I’ll start to make it clean, more orderly. The hardest part during this process is at the end result, I try to make it perfect, but it will ended up with more days to finish it, when I can finaly see a daylight. There are some points where sometimes I feel like want to give up, because I’m not satisfied of the result. But, ussually I came back to that project with clean and full of new ideas after having a break for couple of weeks which makes my works more fresh.

Can you tell us little bit of how did you improve your design work techniques?
Work, work and work. Hours of work each day, and I am still not skilled as I wish I am. I met lots of people, but there were only few of nice people who helped me. I had to work by myself which actually helps me a lot.

What are your preferred choice of softwares + hardwares to produce your such stunning art?
Currently I’m working on my 20″ Mac + Wacom tablet, while for softwares that I currently used is Photoshop CS3, Flash and Illustrator CS3. I had a history of using a broken mouse and 14” dispaly and using an old MS Paint. I still remember when I was first started my first website which was done in Paint where I to create site pixel by pixel for couple of daystake, but the results were quite awesome though.

desire_by_arturnapierajczyk.jpg

What are your coming projects? and what are your goals of being successful graphic designer?
I have a lot of ideas and plans and I will certainly finish up 2 of my uncoming projects till the end of the holiday season. My goals… when I think of it every time my eyes closed, I think of Paris or Stockholm.. Yeah! that would be great place. But right now I can only just dream, the focus is what I do today. I hope that moving to Warsaw will be a great opportunity and will change my life diametrically. I also hope that it would be a right place since there are lots of excellent agencies around.

eos_by_arturnapierajczyk.jpg

If you’re not a designer, what will you be today?
I didn’t really thought of it. Maybe a footballer (I love it) or maybe a guitarist. But now i can only speculate. I choose that way and I think that is the only way. I’m happy of what I am doing now and I just can’t imagine a different scenario.

What advice can you share for fresh designers and illustrators out there that are just starting their carrier now?
Never give up! Really, that’s the only advice I can share. Simply but true. I don’t feel that I have that all experience for giving people advices. There are lots of more experienced and talented designers out there. Ask them, don’t be afraid as everything will come in handy on a right time. Always be patient and when you wake up, enjoy yourself every day. It will make you much better. Find your own style, your own inspirations and find a way of telling your own story.

Thank you so much for this interview. As I mentioned earlier, I hope that some of my words will help other illustrators, designers and all you guys can make stunning works. You are great! Try to believe in yourself. Always smile and push forward. Hope one day you’ll get everything what you’ve dreaming about. I wish you all good luck! :)
