Apple Logo Design Evolution

Posted by Eshark on Sep 8th, 2008

Have you ever wonder how’s the first Apple logo looking in 30 years back? Here I’m sharing some brief info about the evolution of the logo design for Apple computers.

applelogooriginal.jpg

Apple absolute first logo was designed by Ron Wayne in 1976, he was before worked with Steve Jobs at the Atari before co-founding the Apple Computer on April 1976 together with Steve Wozniak. The logo originally was a pen drawing of Sir Issac Newton leaning against an apple tree with a portion of a William Wordsworth poem written around the frame.

applelogo1977.jpg

Designed by Rob Janoff, probably one of the most famous Apple designer during the 80’s. Worked as a Creative Director at Regis McKenna Advertising in 1977, he was the one who come up with the logo design for Apple Computer with a rainbow colored apple and a bite out of it. Following his success, he was later involved doing some design work for IBM and Intel computers. Now he runs his own company, Rob Janoff Advertising Art Direction & Design.

applelogo1998.jpg

Later in the year late 1998, the Apple logo has evolve into a solid monochrome and sometimes comes with a variation of white and gray color.

applelogo2000.jpg

Today, the Apple logo has become one of the most iconic and one of the most recognizable logos around the globe. Now the Apple logo comes with a nice gradient chrome silver looking.

I wonder how would it be look like the new Apple logo evolve in the near future.
